For Spring 2013, designers around the world showed all kinds of striped garments. There were skirts and blazers, minidresses and maxidresses, suits and jumpsuits in dozens of hues and silhouettes.
I have decided to predict the arrival in Athens of the head-to-toe stripes trend (that is, striped maxidresses, pant or skirt suits, and top and bottom combos.)
The style of Athens residents tends to be conservative. Of course, there are exceptions, but for the most part I think this trend will manifest itself in Athens primarily in the form of maxidresses. I think it is fairly unlikely that we will see anyone walking around in a striped jumpsuit. I also highly doubt that anyone will be sporting one of the more daring ‘top and diaper short’ combos that Dolce & Gabbana showed!
As for the color of these striped maxidresses, I predict the following:
[Except for black and white, all are Pantone colors predicted to be big for spring 2013)
Black/White: This is the ultimate, classic color combo and is almost guaranteed to show up this spring in Athens.
Emerald Green: This is Pantone’s color of the year, so it will probably be popular.
Dusk Blue: Muted pastels always look right for spring.
Monaco Blue: A dark, rich blue that will pair well with many colors.
Poppy Red : Several designers showed different shades of red (burgundy, red-orange)
Nectarine: Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana both showed orange stripes.
African Violet: Another pretty pastel sure to be popular.
